About me

I’m an adult-onset athlete, which would come as a surprise, if not a shock, to nearly everyone who knew me growing up. I wasn’t quite your typical nerdy bookworm, but I was pretty darn close. Always better at academics than sports – I mean, much much better – it was easy to decide that academics were more important. As a young adult, I did some aerobics, mostly to prevent myself from turning into a blob. I went to graduate school, got married, got a “real job,” and had two children. Aerobics now seemed impossible because of scheduling issues and it also felt vaguely ridiculous. But some friends were running. Regular moms like me, these friends had multiple children and full-time jobs. Using something called the couch-to-5K program, they turned themselves into runners and happier, more confident people. I wanted a piece of that. So, on May 31, 2009, I started week 1, day 1. The rest is history? Maybe not quite. But check out the blog to find out.
