One more week of marathon training in the books. Twelve more weeks until race day! From here on out, it’s more marathon-specific training. This week featured a fun track workout, loads of running with friends, and the first time breaking 40 miles since the Donna marathon in February.
Monday, 6/11, Early Morning Crew – Swim 2200
Early solo swim workout. This is the sort of thing that used to be really hard for me to get done, but has somehow become much easier in the last year. I am loving the Monday morning swim.
Tuesday, 6/12, Early Morning Crew – 7 miles – Tuesday Track! 2 miles WU; 2km @ 9:50-10:00; 5x800m @ 3:40-3:45 w/3 min recovery; 1 mile CD
I am SO excited about this! This is probably the hardest track workout I’ve ever done. And the most complicated! But, it was really fun and I felt awesome once I was done. 800s came out as: 3:37; 3:37; 3:35; 3:39; 3:38.
Wednesday, 6/13, Lunch Crew – 4 miles (9:02 pace) plus strength training
Usual run from the gym plus lifting. I’m back to working on chin-ups.
Thursday, 6/14, Early Morning Crew – 7 miles
It’s been awhile since I’ve run this many miles mid-week. I have sooooo been looking forward to it and it was great meeting up with Rooster and Teacher Runner twice in one week.
Friday, 6/15, Early Morning Crew – 4 miles (8:57 pace)
Beautiful cool morning run with Teacher Runner.
Saturday, 6/16, Early Morning Crew – 4 miles (10:35 pace) plus strength training
Fabulous morning trail run. Hoping to convert Saturday bike ride to running.
Sunday, 6/17, Early Morning Crew – Long run, 14 miles (9:25 pace)
With Teacher Runner and Rooster again. Our habit of very early start times meant we beat the heat today. Love that I got in so much girlfriend running this week!
Total: 40 miles
